Many SMEs face challenges and opportunities and these can sometimes seem overwhelming to a small management team. Nevertheless, they are often readily addressed by talking them through with an experienced consultant who has faced these same challenges and opportunities in other business contexts. 


Board/Interim roles

We can provide Part-time or Interim support for small to medium businesses.  This may take the form of a Chairman/NED role, or as an Interim support resource.  

Lumino's founder has held a variety of Board positions over many years, as Chair, CEO, CFO or NED.  Accordingly most business challenges have been encountered before. Many SMEs benefit from fresh thinking around the Board table, but this doesn't suit all companies. 

Conversely, Interim assignments work for some SMEs, bringing experience and calm to businesses who are resource-challenged. This can often allow the business to bring in independent, unbiased help, without the need to change the Board or senior team structure.  By so doing, egos and dominant positions can be set aside. 

Chemistry and teamwork are of course critical, but these roles can be very effective if properly-managed.

Help with fund-raising

Many SMEs need to raise funds along their business journey.  Usually this is to support expansion, product development or new projects, but it can sometimes be necessary where a sound business has found itself in difficult circumstances.

Over many years we have helped a myriad of small to medium-sized businesses raise the capital they require, whether in the form of equity, debt, trade finance, VC or other funding sources. 

We can help you to present your business case in an investor/lender-friendly way, get your documentation in good shape and suggest suitable sources of finance relevant to your business.  When it comes to engaging with funding sources, we can help you during the process, explaining terms, considering questions and answers and improving your chances of a successful outcome.
